Homemaking

The Homemaking Program services all homebound persons 60 years and older who reside in Ansonia, Derby, Shelton, Seymour, Oxford, Orange, Woodbridge and Milford .

This service makes it possible for older persons to live in their own homes or to return to their homes by providing assistance in completing tasks they are unable to manage alone. Workers provide assistance with tasks such as light housekeeping, laundry and shopping. Priority is given to the frail elderly and financially needy. Homemaking service is available on a referral basis by hospitals, family, friends, and clients themselves. Generally, demand exceeds resources, so a short waiting period should be expected.

Fee: We suggest a contribution of $10.00 per hour or whatever the client can afford. If a person is unable to make a contribution, service will not be denied.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility criteria include:

• Applicants must be 60 years of age or older
• Live in Ansonia, Derby, Shelton, Seymour, Oxford, Orange, or Milford
